An Eames chair for my good friend!
A good few years ago I sold my car to a friend and vowed I would never, ever sell anything to a friend again! I had stayed faithful to this vow until I founded Iconic Interiors and then had to re-evaluate this decision, as it seemed everyone I knew wanted to purchase our furniture. Despite having complete confidence in the product we sell, my previous experience means I always approach a request from a friend with some trepidation.
Just last week Stephen enquired after an Eames Lounge chair and Ottoman to complete the scheme in his new home. I would class Stephen as an extremely discerning customer (much of his furniture is purchased from Habitat, having just purchased a lovely Robin Day sofa) as well as a very close mate.
Now a web designer (visit Stephen's web
design agency site) (and how we originally became acquainted)
Stephen studied BA (Hons) in Furniture and Related Product Design at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University and really does
know his stuff. Having lodged with me since he moved to Hull 2 years
ago he bought a property at the end of last year and has been painstakingly
putting together a look for his new home that although not high in
budget is high in impact using carefully selected designer pieces
sitting alongside more cost considered items.
Never one to scrimp on research he had already viewed several higher priced versions of the Eames Lounge chair before he came to me and I was delighted when he said he believes, as do we, our version offers the highest quality at a reasonable price.
So today I delivered to him his purchase and enjoyed watching him unpack and position it in his nearly complete home. I know he has, by dealing with Iconic Interiors, found himself a great purchase he will not be disappointed with.
It was also great to receive his text later in the day which confirmed it had already become part of his routine when he texted, "Sat in the Eames, listening to some Puccini, reading with a glass of Rioja. Bloody marvellous!". Okay he may be a bit of a pretentious individual, but he really does know great furniture when he sees it and we look forward to seeing him continue to get pleasure from this iconic design in the years to come.
PS: Stephen did point out the rug was a present from his mother!
