10 reasons to ditch your 3 piece suite and sit on something more interesting instead
1. A suite is cumbersome; it restricts the potential lay-outs you could otherwise apply in your home.
2. Replacing one of your sofas with two or more chairs and/or chaise longues enables you to more effectively 'zone' your living space according to use. To give you some ideas, the Eames Lounger is a perfect reading chair, the Barcelona chair is ideal for working on a laptop and the Le Corbusier chaise longues offers complete comfort for a crafty afternoon nap.
3. Chairs allow you to play with different shapes, colours and textures in a space without the cluttered look that can result from scatter cushions and throws. For an organised look choose different styles of chair but match the leather upholstery or for a more bohemian style just mix it all up!
4. Opposites attract! No more arguments with your partner whilst you try to agree upon the perfect suite; combine your tastes instead to interesting effect.
5. Increase your seating effortlessly when you need to. My tan Egg chair sits in pride of place in my bedroom but holds its own just as beautifully when I move it into the living room before visitors arrive.
6. If you tire of a chair you can replace it at significantly less cost than doing the same with a full suite and by doing so you can create a different look to your room. Good quality chairs sell well even when second hand.
7. Designer chairs can look perfectly at ease alongside more modest budget sofas and chairs to create an expensive and luxurious interior.
8. Having a large party or gathering at home? Ottomans double up as perfectly good stools for the occasional soiree, giving you twice as much seating.
9. With a variety of seating choices in your home you can amuse yourself by analysing the choice of seat that your friends and family make (its not always as you predict - my Mother nearly had to be surgically removed from the Ball chair when I had one in my home!).
10. Remove the need to choose your new home according to the dimensions of your sofa vs. the dimensions of the prospective living room. If you haven't done it personally I bet you know someone who has!
